# ABS()

## Effect

Returns the absolute value of a value.

## Syntax

`ABS (<Expression>)`

# Parameter

`<Expression>` can be a value, a numeric variable or an mathematical expression.

## Example

```basic
10 PRINT "The absolute value of 5 is ";ABS(5)
20 PRINT "The absolute value of -1.23 is ";ABS(-1.23)

RUN
The absolute value of 5 is 5
The absolute value of -1.23 is 1.23
```
