# TAN()

## Effect

Returns the tangent of a variable.

## Syntax

`TAN(<Number>)`

## Parameter

`<Number>` can be a value, a numeric variable or an expression in radians.

## Example

```basic
10 PRINT "The tangent of 1 is ";TAN(1)
20 PRINT "The tangent of -1.23 is ";TAN(-1.23)
 
RUN
The tangent of 1 is 1.5574077246549
The tangent of -1.23 is -2.8198157342686
```
