Mercenaries allow you to increase your Army's size for a fee. You can buy
untrained mercenaries, which you can train yourself, or, you can buy trained
mercenaries, who will contribute to either your Attack or Defense force, but
not both. While mercenaries make your army larger, they do not contribute gold each turn like the rest of your soldiers.
