Many man-made fabrics and materials are created with the purpose of simulating naturally occurring material equivalents. These materials are often far easier to obtain and demonstrate viable economic logic to produce in large-scale volume. They are also more durable in automotive use. For example, wood requires highly intensive levels of pre-preparation in order to withstand the demands it’s exposed to through automotive uses. Alternatively, modern technology provides far easier avenues to produce wood-grain look components, proving to be so realistic that in eect they’re essentially indistinguishable in their role as an imitation.

Likewise, man-made fabrics are readily and easily available in plentiful supply, perfectly replicating genuine leather, also performing better in certain automotive applications where genuine leather might deteriorate prematurely. For these reasons, Toyota employs a vast mixture of man-made and natural materials across most model ranges, ensuring luxury and tactile feel is not compromised in a bid for enhanced durability.

Due to this broad material mix, correctly identifying each item when presenting our vehicles to any potential buyer is critical in ensuring we never mislead the customer into the belief that they have purchased one material type, when perhaps they have purchased another or any combination of man-made and natural materials. Where different materials are used in combination, it’s particularly important that we are able to identify and show clients the distinction. Not only will this assist in displaying unconditional product knowledge, but it’ll assist in building trust, which as is commonly known, is a vital element of every sale.
